About Me:

Jen Lial is a photographer whose portraits seek to embolden their subjects, portraying them with quiet strength, dignity, and beauty in who they are. Her work explores presence, self-expression, and the subtle narratives of everyday life, capturing athletes, artists, and individuals who contribute to the world with kindness and strength.

A committed feminist, Lial supports equality, human rights, and inclusivity. She aims to create work that honors diverse experiences and amplifies voices often underrepresented in visual culture.

Trained in film, Lial holds a BA in Art History and English Literature from Syracuse University and an MA in Museum Education from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her academic background informs a practice attentive to composition, context, and the stories that unfold in her images.

Through her photography, Lial documents memory and experience with nuance and care, creating images that honor lived lives and invite viewers into each story. Raised on Keuka Lake in Upstate New York She lives in Rhode Island with her family and continues to explore photography as both documentation and interpretation, capturing the richness and complexity of human life.
